Debbie - Milton Glaser

Milton Glaser

“To design is to communicate clearly by whatever means you can control or master.“

Born on the 26/6/1929 Milton Glaser became one of the most influential graphic designers of his time. Glaser was the founder and president of the ‘push pin’ studio whose eccentric design of the passé past also introduced a distinctly contemporary design vocabulary,
with a wide range of work that included record sleeves, books,
posters, logos, font design and magazine formats.

He also in 1968 founded ‘new york magazine.’ As well as many other magazines.

In 1983, Glaser teamed up with Walter Bernard to form WBMG, a publication design firm located in New York City.Since its inception, they have designed more than 50 magazines, newspapers and periodicals around the world.

Founding milton glaser, inc. in 1974, his designs included print graphics: identity programs for corporate and institutional marketing purposes, logos (among them the ‘I love new york’ logo for the new york state department of commerce, that became the most frequently imitated logo design in human history).

His work includes environmental and interior design: exhibitions, interiors and
exteriors of restaurants, shopping malls, supermarkets, hotels,
and other retail and commercial environments. He has created more than 300 posters , which include the classic Bob Dylan album cover and poster, as well as creating many other album covers.

His style is fun, vivid, humerous and dynamic which would also describe Miltons' personality. He isn't afraid of working in any form and it shows in the designs and projects he is responsible for.

“We are all born with genius. It's like our fairy godmother. But what happens in life is that we stop listening to our inner voices, and we no longer have access to this extraordinary ability to create poetry.” -Milton Glaser
